Road Show
Road Shows/Motorcades
The Buy Jamaican Road Shows/Motorcades got underway on February 26, 2005, starting from Linstead through to Spanish Town and ending in Portmore, in an effort to encourage residents to buy locally manufactured products. Members of the Association also participated in product displays and promotions in the Super Plus Food Stores in Spanish Town and Portmore. Subsequent road shows/motorcades were held for the rest of the year in May Pen, Mandeville, Black River, Santa Cruz, Junction, Brown’s Town, Ocho Rios, Hanover and St. James. The road shows created excitement in host towns with the help of local artists and the media, who were utilized to spread the campaign message. The road shows achieved the desired effect of improving the visibility of Jamaican products.
Under the 2nd phase of the Buy Jamaican Campaign with NCB, three Road Shows are to be held islandwide. The first Road Show was held as part of Manufacturers’ Month, on April 25, 2009, in Trelawny, with motorcade stops in Clarks Town, Duncans and Falmouth Square, to increase consumer awareness of locally manufactured goods. The second Road Show was held July 18, a 71 Main Street, in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth, with a motorcade stop in Mandeville. Approximately twenty (20) companies mounted displays at both shows. The final Road Show is slated to be held in Ocho Rios on April 24, 2010.
